Baby, It's Cold Outside!

We all agreed to arise at 8 am at Judy's request and not spend another day in the house. So, at 8, Winn who has the only clock, woke me up and I put my coffee on and went out to check the weather. Winn said as I went out, "I'm not going anywhere this morning". It was so windy, rainy and wet that it wouldn't be fun to go somewhere and not get out and trust me it is cold! So, I ducked back in and knocked on Judy's door and told her to just go back to sleep. She did and here it is nearly 1 pm and she's still not up. I've seen her once, so I know she's alive, but Winn finally arose at 12, and I had already turned the coffee on, so I noodled until 9 and rose to drink it before it turned to syrup. This is a very old pot and takes about 20 minutes of snuffling to make me two mugs. If I weren't so stingy, I'd buy a new one for the house, but this one still works, so it will remain unless it dies. I asked my friend Ellie to send me the forecast for the next few days and this is her report...

"Weather:
Tomorrow is supposed to be a crazy mix of rain and wind and clouds and showers, brief glimpses of sun, temperatures : low 4, high 12 (40 - 55) wind 28 kph (about 20 mph)
Friday: clearing but temps still cold: 5 - 16. (42 - 58) Less windy.

The weather on the TV looked like it would be sunny on Saturday. We'll see!"

So it looks like another day of reading, drawing, etc. with a run to a grocery store for goodies for another rib-sticking soup or cassoulet for dinner. Also, Winn wants an ATM and we MUST find a pastisserie again.

This is a particularly great way to travel IMHO, as we have no deadlines, no tours which must go on regardless of the weather, and by staying in one spot rather than dashing all about one gains a sense of place and rhythym. If I had only spent one day here or less I wouldn't have seen the variety of trees and plants or noticed the mourning doves in the mornings. There is just so much beauty and serenity here. Such peace.

I'll probably post more later, but for now, Winn has a problem with photos that we will address and see if we can post them somewhere to show them.

Hey, girls
If you haven't found and ATM yet, we discovered that the one on the square in Chalabre was convenient and easy to use. I also wonder about the coffee pot. We had a sort of Mr. Coffee which worked pretty well. it must have been confiscated by one of the other houses. Sorry about the cold, but sounds like fun so far.
