A Mirepoix family

One day while at a café in Mirepoix, a young boy with chocolate ice cream all over his face caught my attention; he was sitting beside us with his family. I asked his Dad if I could take his photo and we quickly found ourselves chatting with a British family and their young children. Two little boys and a girl named ‘Maisie’ who wanted out of her stroller. They’ve now relocated to France and both work for British Airways. Inquisitive as I am , I wanted to know about their arrangements for daycare. Imagine my surprise to find out that they both worked a half week and could care for their children themselves! Since I was a working mother for most of my mothering days, I would have loved an arrangement such as this!
Judy has the most delightful photo of Maisie and I hope that she's able to post it here soon. In the meantime I'll share mine with you.
What is most interesting about Mirepoix is that the town dates back to about 1290 .. nothing in Canada is this old!
I’ve read that this is the most magnificent town square west of the Rhone. Almost the entire perimeter is rimmed by broad arcades supported by stout old beams, above which rise two storeys of pastel trimmed timer-frame houses. One of its star attractions is the 14th century Maison des Consuls; at one time I thought it would be nice to stay here but when I found out that there would be a fete with lots of music, it was wiser to stay a short distance outside of town.
As time allows photos will be added to our blog; from time to time you may want to scroll down to find them.

I remember falling in love with Mirepoix back in 2000 when I visited the first time. You still must get Pat to make reservations for you for dinner at the Hotel Royale there.....great food and service.
